A16 (Italian)
San Francisco: Marina

You might need help with the menu since it’s written mostly in Italian, but the servers are very helpful. The cuisine is rustic and strictly southern Italian. Order one of the pizzas, since A16 is known for its thin crust pies Naples-style. Otherwise, my favorites are the braised pork, squid pasta (the squid is not rubbery) and the hazelnut/chocolate torte.

Cuisine: Italian
Price: Entrees are $15-20.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Given the tile floor, you’ll have to raise your voice to be heard.
Reservations: Highly recommended and book far in advance. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Parking in the Marina is a nightmare in the evenings. Either park in a paid lot on Lombard or be prepared to circle up to 45 minutes to find street parking. If you circle, Lombard has higher turnover.
Date place? Sure. There’s even a foosball table if you’re up to it.
