Aziza (Moroccan / Vegetarian-Friendly)
San Francisco: Richmond

Aziza is one of the few Bay Area Moroccan restaurants that do not feature live belly dancers who, at some point or another during dinner, coerce you to join them on stage. I live in fear at those places. Instead, the focus is on the food, which I can't recommend highly enough. Makes for a much more relaxing dinner.

My favorites are the wild mushrooms and manouri cheese in phyllo dough, basteeya (a kind of phyllo pie with chicken and toasted almonds with a hint of cinnamon), grilled quail with bread salad, and the fish claypot (changes seasonally).

Cuisine: Moroccan / Vegetarian-Friendly
Price: Entrees are $15-25.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Usually not a problem.
Reservations: Recommended. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Parking in the Richmond can be a nightmare. Stick to one of the busier streets like Clement, where turnover is higher.
Date place? Absolutely. Lush velvet curtains, minimally cheesy Moroccan decor.
