If you can’t get into French Laundry, the closest you’ll get is Bouchon, which is also owned by Thomas Keller. It’s a more relaxed bistro and you’ll feel like you’re in the French countryside. My favorite is the steak frites.

Dress:	Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise:	It’s a lively place and you’ll have to raise your voice.
Reservations:	Highly recommended, and book far in advance. (OpenTable)
Payment:	Cash and credit cards.
Parking:	Street parking is not a problem and there is a free lot across the street as well.
Date place?	Definitely.
