Other than salads, soufflés are the only items on the menu. You might think that light and airy soufflés won’t fill you up, but the ingredients are pretty rich, so pace yourself. Both savory and sweet options are offered. I like the white corn soufflé and the lobster ones. If white peach is in season, get that for dessert. If not, the Grand Marnier is an obvious choice.
Business casual and up. Don’t wear jeans, even if they are of the $150 variety.
Noise:
Not a problem. If anything, it’s almost too quiet sometimes. This is a small place and tables are well spread apart.
Reservations:
Highly recommended, and try to book far in advance. The restaurant is not very big.
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
Parking in North Beach is terrible, but there are tons of paid lots around. I like the official city lots the best because they are less expensive and are very near the police station.
Date place?
Many say that this is the most romantic restaurant in the city. Most tables are for two. If you aren’t ready to be surrounded by couples gazing into each others’ eyes, don’t come here. But if you do need that someplace special, this is your place.
