These restaurants are the casual, neighborhood places that you would just like to drop into at a moment’s notice. However, they are both busy and you will usually have to wait at least 20-30 minutes for a table unless you go early or late. Even though the restaurants have virtually identical menus, for some reason, I prefer Park Chow (in Sunset) over Chow. The food somehow tastes better every time. My favorites are the smoked chicken pasta with sun dried tomatoes and sausage in a pink sauce and the orange creamsicle drink. I’ve also heard that the meatloaf is good.
Both locations are pretty loud and tables are close together.
Reservations:
None taken.
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
Parking in both the Castro and Sunset is tough. For Sunset, try parking along the edge of Golden Gate Park on Lincoln. I have no good tips for the Castro except to keep circling. In both cases, public transit is only a block away, though.
Date place?
Yes, for a casual one, but remember the potential wait.
