Colibri Mexican Bistro (Mexican / Small Plates)
San Francisco: Union Square

This is a tourist favorite given its location but don’t let that stop you from trying some great Mexican (not Tex Mex) food. Do not skip the guacamole, which is prepared fresh tableside and served with the best handmade corn tortillas I’ve ever had. I could eat a whole meal of just these. I also like the cornbread with poblano cream sauce and the chicken mole.

Cuisine: Mexican / Small Plates
Price: Small plates are $10-20.
Dress: Casual and up. The faded 501s and shorts are OK.
Noise: It’s pretty noisy. You’ll have to raise your voice.
Reservations: Recommended. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Street parking is almost impossible during the day but there are lots of paid lots nearby.
Date place? Given the noise and small plates concept, it’s a group place.
