At the entrance are articles proclaiming that Cote Sud transports you to the south of France. I’m not sure that I was fully transported, but sitting at one of the balcony tables may be the closest I’ve gotten in the city. The food is fantastic, particularly the duck confit. Ben also thought the bouillabaisse was authentic and even better than some we’ve had in France. If the puff pastry with coffee cream is available, get it. This place is a great deal to boot. The only downside is the service. It is slooowww.
Three-course prix fixe menus are $25. The best part is you choose right off the regular menu. Otherwise, entrees are $15-20. Might as well go for the whole thing!
Dress:
Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise:
It’s really loud here and tables are very, very close together. You have to yell to be heard if the restaurant is full.
Reservations:
Recommended.
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
It’s not great but not impossible. Allow 5-10 minutes extra to find parking. Otherwise, take a bus or MUNI streetcar.
Date place?
Yes, but keep the high noise level and tight proximity in mind. And imagine you are really in France…you can’t be in a hurry.
