When excellent service matches excellent food, it's a beautiful thing. This is the case at Cyrus. Co-owner and maitre d' Nick Peyton (you might know him from his days at Gary Danko) makes every guest feel special. One minute he's in the trenches clearing plates off tables with his staff. The next he's demonstrating his expertise on cheese. "You like mimolette? Charles de Gaulle's favorite cheese was mimolette." None of this is done in a condescending way.
As for food, get the 7-course chef's tasting menu to indulge in a variety of tastes, such as quail with honey truffle glaze. The menu changes daily, but the restaurant is known for a few dishes, including its caramel soup dessert. Caramel sauce is poured over a net of chocolate, which then melts onto popcorn. Almost everything that comes out of the kitchen is just as inventive. I cannot say enough great things about Cyrus. Just go.
