I’ve been approached by drug dealers while walking to Dottie’s. If you tough out the neighborhood and the long wait, you’ll be rewarded with one of the best southern brunches in the city. Fresh bread is served along with your order and the baked goods are a standout. The atmosphere is somewhat diner-like.
The space is small and it can get a little noisy, but it’s manageable.
Reservations:
None taken.
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
Parking in the Tenderloin is difficult. If you’re nervous about leaving your car in this neighborhood, park in one of the paid lots near Union Square and walk. Otherwise, take the 38 bus or BART to Powell and walk.
Date place?
Given the neighborhood, maybe not. Go with a group.
