Globe is open very late and all of the fancy restaurant chefs come here after they’re done with their own cooking. The first time I came here, SF food critic Michael Bauer was sitting at the table next to me. Somehow, he got a lot of free food and way more attentive service than we did. Hmm…
Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise:
It’s really, really loud in here. My college roommate lost her voice the next day from screaming at the rest of us.
Reservations:
Highly recommended, and book far in advance. (OpenTable)
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
Since it’s on the border of North Beach, parking is hit or miss. It’s not impossible, but I would allow at least an extra 10 minutes any time of the day.
Date place?
I’m hesitant to recommend it for a date because of the noise level but all of the other elements fit…good food, service, atmosphere, etc. It’s more of a fun group place.
