Junnoon (Indian / Vegetarian-Friendly)
Peninsula: Palo Alto

Indian fusion is all the rage these days. Surprisingly, the bulk of it is being done on the Peninsula and not in the city. One such place is Junnoon.

Though dinner is a little on the pricey side (but in my opinion still worth it), lunch is a steal. For only $20 at lunch, you will be stuffed. Order one of Junoon's tiffins, and you will get salad, naan or basmati rice, an entree, and a side. My favorite is the black pepper steak served with a chickpea stew on the side.

Lunch is my favorite time to go also because it's more relaxing and much easier to snag a reservation.

Cuisine: Indian / Vegetarian-Friendly
Price: Entrees are $15-25. The prix fixe lunch is $20.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Tables are well spaced, so generally not a problem.
Reservations: Highly recommended.
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: There are many free lots nearby, but parking can still be difficult at times. Allow an extra 5 minutes to find it.
Date place? Definitely. Indian fusion is on-trend. The food is fantastic. The decor is romantic.
