Koh Samui & The Monkey (Thai)
San Francisco: SOMA

I like this place because they serve Thai street food and more inventive offerings than your typical pad thai and yellow curries. For example, the mieng kum are interesting because you get to fold up chicken satay or tofu with a mixture of peanuts, lime, coconut, ginger, and chili in a small leaf and pop into your mouth. I also like the golden bags, which are deep fried thin dough stuffed with a fish paste mixture. As for entrees, the pumpkin chicken curry and the sesame scallop curry are my favorites.

Cuisine: Thai
Price: Entrees are $10-15.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Generally not a problem.
Reservations: Recommended. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Street parking is not a problem unless there is a game at nearby AT&T Park, but budget an extra 5-10 minutes to be safe. If there is a game, just take the N-Judah and walk.
Date place? Yes. You'll be in good company. One night we counted four (what looked to be) first dates.
