Kokkari Estiatorio (Greek)
San Francisco: Embarcadero

Kokkari is no longer the only upscale Greek place in the city, but it is probably the best. There are a few communal tables and the décor is somehow rustic yet elegant. Everything here is good, especially the moussaka. The appetizer sampler platter is huge and can be shared with 3-4 others. The same folks own Evvia in Palo Alto.

Cuisine: Greek
Price: Entrees are $15-25.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Not bad, but you’ll have to raise your voice a bit.
Reservations: Recommended. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Street parking is not bad, but all an extra 5-10 minutes to find some. Otherwise, take the F line and walk.
Date place? Definitely.
