La Folie (French)
San Francisco: Russian Hill

This is a special occasion place. It’s a bit less formal than Fleur de Lys, but the food is also great. If truffles are in season, someone will come by your table with a basket and let you smell. You can then opt to have truffles shaved onto your food for an extra $25-30. Do it!

Cuisine: French
Price: Tasting menus are $60-85.
Dress: Jackets for men, business casual and up for women. Don’t wear jeans, even if they are of the $150 variety.
Noise: Not a problem.
Reservations: Highly recommended, and book far in advance. (OpenTable)
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: Parking in Russian Hill is challenging to put it mildly. However, you’ll have better luck if you go further away from the restaurant towards Galileo High School, which is about a five-minute walk. Avoid mass transit given your attire.
Date place? Might be a bit pricey for a first or second date. Definitely appropriate for a celebration, though.
