La Taqueria (Tacos)
San Francisco: Mission

Most locals agree that this is THE place for burritos and tacos in the city. I can’t disagree. The burritos are huge and tasty, with lots of guacamole. My favorite are the steak burritos (yes, steak…not beef) and tacos. The agua frescas are also fantastic, especially the melon and strawberry ones.

Cuisine: Tacos
Price: Items are $3-7.
Dress: Casual. The faded 501s and shorts are OK.
Noise: Usually very lively, but the big storefront windows are usually open, so the noise flows to the street.
Reservations: None taken. You’ll wait in line to order at the counter, then scour for a table, then pick up your food. It can get really crowded at times, but you can always take your food to go. If you do want to sit down, you will probably only have to wait a few minutes to get a table, as turnover is high.
Payment: Cash only.
Parking: Parking in the Mission is a nightmare at almost any time of the day. However, there are a few paid lots nearby. Alternatively, take BART or a Mission or Valencia bus.
Date place? Nope, unless you’ve been a couple for a while. Then again, this is an SF institution, so it might not be all that bad.
