Given its location in the Financial District, Perbacco draws an interesting clientele. The gorgeous after-work crowd comes in suits and dominate the bar. Tourists in jeans and tennies, hippies, and foodies mix in the dining areas. All that to say, everyone's welcome here.
Homemade pastas and salumi are Perbacco's house specialties. In fact, Michael Bauer named the tagliatelle with 5-hour pork sugo as one of the best pastas in the Bay Area. I also like the papardelle with braised short rib ragu. For dessert, I love the panna cotta flavored with whatever citrus fruit is in season. And if you're a lemon fan, you'll love the meyer lemon semifreddo.
Parking in the evenings is a piece of cake. Not fun during the day, but there are lots of expensive paid lots nearby. Alternatively, take BART to the Embarcadero or Montgomery stops.
Date place?
Sure. Ask for a table away from the noisy bar area, though.
