Takara is located in Miyako Mall. Like malls in Japan, this one is filled with lots of restaurants that resemble one another. Takara is one of the standouts. The sushi is fresh. More unique dishes, such as cast iron rice pots, oshizushi, and tea rice, are offered at dinnertime.
Sushi is $4-7 for two pieces. Entrees are $10-15. There are also several set menus in the $20-30 range that include an appetizer, cast iron rice pot dish, and dessert.
Dress:
Casual and up. The faded 501s and shorts are OK.
Noise:
Not a problem.
Reservations:
Recommended.
Payment:
Cash and credit cards.
Parking:
The garage underneath the mall is cheap. Some restaurants validate, though I don’t remember if Takara does. Street parking is hit or miss. Alternatively, take the 38 or 22 bus.
Date place?
Yes, if it’s a casual one. Takara is not fun or romantic, but it’s not embarrassing.
