Nothing says Berkeley like Top Dog. Tons of anti-government and anti-authority stickers and cartoons plaster the walls. There are no real lines, so just shout your order to the person behind the counter. No matter who it is, they’ll have an amazing memory and without writing anything down, will start and complete your order…along with five others. They don’t serve Coke or Pepsi…just RC Cola. Very Berkeley. My favorites are the Top Dog (what else) and the Lemon Chicken. And, like many other college town establishments, it’s open real late. I like them so much I had them cater my class’ fifth year reunion.

Dress:	Casual. The faded 501s and shorts are OK.
Noise:	Totally noisy and chaotic, especially before the Big Game.

Payment:	Cash only.
Parking:	Street parking so close to campus is challenging, but there are a few paid lots nearby. Otherwise, try circling for 5-10 minutes or parking further away, then walking.
Date place?	If you’re a Cal alum, yes. Before a football game, yes.
