Zitune (Moroccan / Mediterranean)
Peninsula: Los Altos

Zitune is the most exciting restaurant in Los Altos. Some people would argue that that's not saying much, but in my book, Zitune would be a star in any neighborhood.

Here, there is no need to employ belly dancers to distract from mediocre food. The food is fantastic. My favorites are the duck pastilla appetizer, orange lavender duck breast, and mushroom stuffed quail. The portions will leave you full.

And, in an area of the world that values extreme efficiency, Zitune is a standout...they'll let you stay for as long as you want. Defintely a date place.

Cuisine: Moroccan / Mediterranean
Price: Entrees are $15-25.
Dress: Chic casual and up. Sevens and Diesels are OK, faded 501s and shorts aren’t.
Noise: Not a big problem.
Reservations: Recommended.
Payment: Cash and credit cards.
Parking: There is a large parking lot behind the restaurant, and street parking isn't bad, either.
Date place? Very much so. One of the few places in Los Altos you can grab a truly great meal in what feels like a big-city restaurant.
